About Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka fits rock fortresses, tea country and palm-lined beaches into one small island, usually travelled by private car with a driver.

When to go

December to March is best for the west and south coasts. The east coast has its own drier season from May to September, so the island works for a beach trip most of the year.

Getting around

A private car and driver is the easiest way to cover Sigiriya, Kandy and the hill country trains in one trip, and is included in most of our Sri Lanka packages.

Highlights

  • Sigiriya rock fortress and its frescoes
  • Kandy’s Temple of the Tooth
  • The hill country train through tea estates
  • Yala National Park for leopard and elephant safaris
  • Palm-lined beaches on the south coast
